The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has inaugurated its newly elected local government executive officers and ward chairmen, with party leaders using the occasion to reaffirm their commitment to internal democracy while expressing concerns over the outcome of the party’s February 7, 2026 ward and local government congresses.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the inauguration ceremony, held at the APC Secretariat in Eredo, attracted a large gathering of party stakeholders, apex leaders, ward representatives, elected officials, women and youth leaders, party faithful, and supporters from across the council area.
The event began with the formal reading of a press statement by APC chieftain, Hon. John Bull, who presented the position of loyal party members on what they described as irregularities that followed the party’s congresses.
According to the statement, the group reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, noting that members remain committed to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government and the THEMES+ developmental agenda of the Lagos State Government.
The statement explained that the inauguration was not intended to create division within the party but to uphold the principles of fairness, transparency, and internal democracy.
It further alleged that while party members participated in the ward and local government congresses held on February 7, 2026, the authentic list agreed upon by stakeholders was allegedly altered after the exercise, with names of some participants reportedly replaced by individuals who neither purchased nomination forms nor participated in the congress.
The group disclosed that a petition dated May 10, 2026, had been forwarded to the Lagos State APC leadership seeking intervention but stated that no official response had been received.
The statement maintained that the inauguration of the executives at the recognized APC Secretariat in Eredo was in line with the authentic outcome of the congresses.
Addressing party members, APC leader Hon. Onabokun narrated the events that preceded the congress, explaining that party leaders had reached a consensus on the executive list during a meeting held at the residence of Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member, Alhaji Seriki Akanni Bamu, on February 7.
“We all agreed on a particular list during our meeting at the residence of GAC member, Alhaji Seriki Akanni Bamu, on February 7, but after that, some individuals went ahead to do something entirely different from what had been agreed upon,” he said.
He stressed that the gathering was not intended to challenge the authority of the party but to defend the integrity of the congress process and ensure that those duly elected by members were recognized.
“We are loyal members of APC. We are only standing to protect internal democracy and ensure that the wishes of genuine party members are respected,” he added.
Following the speeches, the inauguration ceremony proceeded with the administration of the oath of office on the newly elected local government executive officers and ward chairmen.
Each executive formally took the oath of office and subsequently signed the official oath documents, signifying their acceptance of the responsibilities attached to their respective offices and their commitment to uphold the constitution and ideals of the All Progressives Congress.
The newly inaugurated executive committee is headed by Alhaji Ismail Waliyullah Abiodun as Chairman, while Mukaila Oluwasegun Muritala serves as Vice Chairman. Jimoh Olusegun was inaugurated as Secretary alongside other officers occupying key positions, including Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Organising Secretary, Welfare Officer, Woman Leader, Youth Leader, Public Relations Officer, Auditor and Ex-Officio members.
Ward chairmen from across Eredo LCDA were also inaugurated during the ceremony, completing the formal inauguration of the party’s grassroots leadership structure.
Party leaders charged the new executives to remain united, promote peace within the party, and work collectively to strengthen the APC across all wards in Eredo LCDA ahead of future political activities.
“The strength of our party lies in our unity and commitment to service. Every executive member must work together to move APC in Eredo forward,” one of the party leaders said.
Another stakeholder urged the newly inaugurated officers to place the interests of the party above personal ambitions.
“This inauguration is not just about occupying offices. It is a call to serve, unite members, and build a stronger APC from the grassroots,” the stakeholder stated.
The ceremony ended with prayers for the success of the newly inaugurated executives, ward chairmen, and the continued growth of the All Progressives Congress in Eredo LCDA.
