EKO HOT BLOG has discovered a video of a number of armed cattle rustlers hiding in a bush that was circulated on social media platforms, over the past few days, to be fake.
Many social media users claimed the viral video was the Amotekun drone capture of the hideout of armed cattle rustlers in a forest in Ogere, Ogun State.
According to the posts, it claimed that the Fulani terrorists have positioned themselves in forests in the southern region of Nigeria waiting for a signal from their commanders.
It also called on the Yoruba nation to be ready to defend the region, saying, “Yoruba Nation, No Going Back” and “Where there is a way, there is a will”.
The video is also circulating on YouTube.
EKO HOT BLOG found the video and the claim to be misleading.
Fact-check
Through a keyword search on Twitter, EKO HOT BLOG found a video from April 4, 2022, on a channel called ‘K24 TV’. The channel’s description says, “GSU drone captures armed bandits in a thicket in Pokot preparing breakfast”.
Upon further research, it was discovered that it was a General Service Unit (GUC) drone that captured armed cattle rustlers hiding in a thicket in Pokot County in Kenya with stolen livestock.
The bandits who have been terrorising the residents of Pokot, Laikipia, Baringo and Samburu counties and confiscating their cattle were captured by a manned GSU drone.

According to the footage, the burglars were making breakfast in the bush when they caught a glimpse of the drone recording them.
They tried shooting it down unsuccessfully with their arms. They seemed to have spent the night in that part of the bush as shown in the clip.
