- Gael Clichy doubts Arsenal’s ambition
- Gunners legend claims manager is focused on avoiding victory than winning
- Premier league success may be tied to Gyokeres’ contribution
The gunners impressive premier league run in the last three seasons have earned them praises, but the former defender and legend Gael Clichy opined that Mikel Arteta’s tactics shows lack of ambition.

Finishing second in three consecutive seasons, Clichy believes that Arteta is more focused on avoiding defeat than pushing for victory, especially in important away matches.

Clichy knocked Arteta’s extremely careful approach, stating that Arsenal no longer look to dominate top opponents in their away matches, but he feels the team has become too used to scrapping out points rather than seizing statement wins.
“When you look at that game against Liverpool, you can see a team that is not concerned about winning but a team excited not to lose a game. This is very subtle but this is a massive difference for a team that is competing for the title. So hopefully this will change with the players they have now.

“Liverpool started the season very fragile, giving up opportunities. But Arsenal did not exploit that, they did not want to hear it. This is the part where Mikel needs to adjust. Yes, you will win points, I have heard him saying how they are the team who have won the most points over the last three years. But you haven’t won anything. It is not a question about points, it is going to those places and getting the win” he said.

The gunners who currently sit third on the premier league table will return to premier league action on Saturday after the international break to face Nottingham Forest.
Mikel Arteta side will be under pressure to keep pace with the reigning champions.
