Atiku, Obi Receive Tribunal Judgement’s Certified True Copies, Prepare Appeal
Eko Hot Blog reports that the legal teams of the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, respectively, have received the Certified True Copies (CTC) of the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The development came on Friday, two days after a five-man panel of the tribunal delivered a 12-hour judgement on the appeals of Atiku and Obi arising from the presidential election, upholding the election of President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku and Obi had rejected the court’s judgement, vowing to approach the Supreme Court.
According to law, the PDP and LP candidates have 14 days from the date the judgement was delivered to file an appeal at the apex court.
However, as of Friday afternoon, Atiku’s team claimed that they were yet to get the verdict’s certified true copies, leaving them with 12 days to file their appeal.
Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communications, Phrank Shaibu, in a statement on Friday slammed the tribunal for allegedly failing to release the certified copies of the judgment to the former vice president’s legal team.
“By not making available to Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Certified True Copies of the judgment of Wednesday for its filings at the Supreme Court, the Presidential Election Petition Court is undermining Atiku’s and Nigerians’ quest for justice,” Shaibu had claimed.
By Friday evening, however, Obi’s lead counsel, Dr Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), told Punch that he had received a copy of the judgement.
“I have a copy of the judgment; they are scanning it at the moment,” he said.
Likewise, Atiku’s lead counsel, Chris Uche (SAN), confirmed the development to the newspaper.
