The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, Adamu Usman Ahmed, has expressed confidence that Governor Bala Mohammed will be unable to install a preferred successor at the end of his tenure.
Ahmed stated that the political history of Bauchi State shows that no governor has successfully handed over power to a chosen successor, a development he believes gives the opposition a strong chance in the forthcoming governorship election.

The PDP candidate made the remarks while addressing journalists in Abuja.
According to him, Bauchi voters have consistently demonstrated political independence and are unlikely to support any attempt to impose a candidate on the electorate.
“The people of Bauchi are always wise.
“Looking at the history of the state, no governor has successfully installed a successor. That is why I believe the opposition has a strong chance of winning,” Ahmed said.
He argued that the political landscape ahead of the next election is significantly different from previous contests, noting that more political parties are expected to participate in the race.
Ahmed explained that the emergence of several parties and candidates could reshape the electoral contest and create opportunities for opposition candidates.
“The dynamics of politics have changed. Unlike the past when elections were mainly between two parties, this time there are about seven or eight parties contesting. Having many candidates in the race gives us an advantage,” he stated.
The governorship hopeful also outlined his priorities if elected, promising to tackle unemployment and create economic opportunities for residents of the state.
According to him, job creation would form the cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda.
“Our major target will be job creation,” he said.
Ahmed added that his government would focus on creating opportunities for young people, boosting economic activities and improving the welfare of citizens across Bauchi State.
He maintained that addressing unemployment remains critical to reducing poverty, enhancing security and improving living standards for residents.
