No headway has been made in efforts to secure the release of nine persons abducted by suspected bandits in Adanla community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, as the kidnappers continue to insist on a ₦300 million ransom.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch for Kwara South Senatorial District, Zubair Olaitan, disclosed on Wednesday that the abductors have remained uncompromising despite multiple contacts with community leaders.

According to him, the bandits have so far reached out three times, reiterating their stance that the victims will not be freed unless the full ransom is paid.
The abduction occurred on Boxing Day, December 26, 2025, during a failed attempt by the armed men to kidnap the traditional ruler of the community, Oba David Olarinoye, and his wife.

The monarch was reportedly away in Igbaja at the time of the attack.
Following the failed attempt, the assailants seized nine residents in the community. Seven of the victims were taken from the king’s palace, while two others were captured elsewhere in the town before being marched into the bush.
Efforts to negotiate a reduction in the ransom demand have so far proved unsuccessful, with the kidnappers reportedly rejecting all appeals from intermediaries.
