According to the elders, the federal government’s current approach has demonstrated a firm resolve to confront the deep-seated security challenges that have long hindered the peace and economic growth of the region.
The movement highlighted that the ongoing and intensified military operations have successfully disrupted the extensive networks of armed bandits and insurgent groups.
This sustained pressure from the armed forces has gradually restored much-needed confidence among local residents, farmers, and traders in heavily affected communities.
While acknowledging that isolated attacks still present a challenge, Abubakar emphasized that the operational capacity of these criminal groups has been visibly degraded.
He credited the gallant officers and soldiers of the Nigerian military who have risked their lives, invading deep into notorious forest hideouts to dismantle criminal enclaves and neutralize threats at their source.
The statement detailed specific progress made across several northern and North-Central states, including Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara.
In these areas, recent military campaigns have led to the destruction of multiple bandit camps and the elimination of several notorious criminal kingpins who had previously operated with impunity.
The Northern Elders Progressive Movement singled out “Operation Fansan Yamma” for high praise, describing the campaign as one of the most effective and well-coordinated military interventions in the North-West.
The group strongly urged the military leadership and frontline troops not to relent, but rather to sustain the current momentum until total peace and normalcy are permanently restored.
In addition to praising the troops, the NEPM highly commended the Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, for providing the necessary strategic leadership and administrative support.
The group observed that his active engagement and close monitoring of military operations have significantly enhanced operational efficiency and boosted the morale of the personnel on the ground.

The movement stressed that the sacrifices made daily by security forces deserve the utmost respect, gratitude, and cooperation from every Nigerian citizen.
Shifting focus to the broader national landscape, the elders made an impassioned appeal to the citizenry, urging individuals to prioritize national interest over ethnic, religious, or political considerations.
The group maintained that national solidarity and mutual tolerance are vital pillars required to secure Nigeria’s future and ensure political stability.
Abubakar concluded by reaffirming the movement’s dedication to backing all governmental initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive growth and peace, expressing firm optimism that with responsible leadership and collective public support, the country will successfully overcome its current trials.
