Eko Hot Blog reports that Nigeria’s former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his wife, Patience, have casted their ballots in the ongoing off-cycle governorship election in Bayelsa State.
The former leader and his wife arrived at Polling Unit 39 in Ward 13 in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State around 10:00 a.m.
Addressing the media after casting his vote today in Bayelsa State, the former President declared that off-cycle elections must stop in Nigeria.
He urged the National Assembly to work towards stopping the off-season poll.
The ongoing off-cycle election is conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo States.
“I’m worried about this issue of off-season election because it does not conform with global best practices,” Jonathan said.
