EKO HOT BLOG reports that the emergency plenary session, presided over by Deputy Speaker Lami Danladi-Ogenyi, began with a motion to lift the suspension of the four members. The motion, raised by Majority Leader Saater Tiseer and seconded by Samuel Jiji of Logo Constituency, was unanimously adopted.
Danladi-Ogenyi announced, “Following the motion raised by the Majority Leader and supported by members of the House, this House has resolved to lift the suspension of the four members.”
After their reinstatement, the four lawmakers rejoined proceedings, and the nomination of a new Speaker was opened. Douglas Akyaa, representing Makurdi South Constituency, nominated Emberger for the position. His nomination was seconded by Abu Umoru of Apa Constituency, and with no other contenders, Emberger was elected unopposed.
The Clerk of the House, John Hwande, administered the oath of office to the new Speaker.
In his acceptance speech, Emberger expressed appreciation to his colleagues and acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor. He pledged to run an inclusive administration built on fairness and respect for diverse views.

“To my esteemed colleagues, I assure you that this leadership will be anchored on inclusiveness, fairness and respect for diverse opinions. This House under my watch will work harmoniously with the executive and judiciary while maintaining our independence in line with the principle of separation of powers,” he said.
