Witnesses report that the attackers arrived under the cover of darkness and immediately targeted a military outpost with an explosive device, causing significant damage.
This was followed by an intense gun duel between the assailants, the Nigerian Army, and local vigilantes that lasted until approximately 5:00 a.m.
As the sun rose over Kemanji, the devastating scale of the attack began to emerge. Sources confirmed that several soldiers died while gallantly repelling the invaders.
The bandits reportedly carted away military patrol vehicles and motorcycles as they retreated.
Aggrieved youths in the community have since called for an immediate halt to all political postings and campaigns.

“These men died protecting us. We stand with our troops and mourn with their families. No politics,” a youth representative declared.
The latest bloodshed has sparked a backlash against political and traditional leaders in the region. A.K. Musa, a prominent community member, has called for the resignation of any leader unable to protect their people.
“Kaiama community leaders must rise to the challenge. What is happening suggests that our leaders have failed us,” Musa stated, noting that this incident follows a February attack in the same LGA where over 200 people were killed.
The Kwara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement, as efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful as of press time.
