BREAKING: Appeal Court Nullifies N20bn Damages Against DSS For Raiding Igboho’s House

Appeal Court has nullified N20bn damages awarded against DSS for raiding Sunday Igboho’s house.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, on Tuesday set aside the judgment which declared the attack on the house of Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho illegal.
The court also nullified the N20 billion exemplary and aggravated damages awarded against the Department of State Security (DSS) for the attack, describing it as outrageous.

Justice Muslim Hassan, in his judgment, held that the Oyo State High Court lacked jurisdiction on the matter, adding that the judge should not have awarded damages based on his personal parameters.
Recall that an Oyo state high court directed the Department of State Services (DSS) to pay N20 billion to Sunday Adeyemo better known as Sunday Igboho for unlawfully invading his Ibadan residence on July 1.
Ladiran Akintola, the judge, awarded the sum as exemplary and aggravated damages against the secret service in the fundamental human rights suit filed by Igboho.
Igboho had sued the AGF, the DSS, and the director of the DSS in Oyo state, demanding N5.5 billion in damages over the raid on his Ibadan home.
