Ibok-Ete Ibas Appoints Professor Worika As Rivers SSG
The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has appointed Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), with immediate effect.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Ibas highlighted Worika’s extensive qualifications and experience, citing his Ph.D. in International Environmental and Comparative Petroleum Law & Policy from the University of Dundee, UK, as well as his notable contributions in academia, international organizations, and government advisory roles.

Meanwhile, Ibas also announced the resignation of George Nwaeke as the Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State. He commended Nwaeke’s service and expressed gratitude for his contributions, wishing him success in future endeavors.
As an interim measure, Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, has been appointed as Acting Head of Service until a substantive replacement is named.
Ibas reaffirmed his commitment to neutrality, peace, and stability, assuring the people of Rivers that his administration remains focused on restoring order and governance stability in the state.
