The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has convened a high-level meeting to deliberate on the petition seeking the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the development follows a ruling by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, which overturned an earlier injunction that had restrained INEC from proceeding with the recall process.

The court, in its judgment delivered on Friday, affirmed that the recall process is legally valid and aligns with the constitutional rights of the constituents. It further encouraged the petitioners to exercise their civic rights in a peaceful and orderly manner.

Previously, the court had issued an interim order on Thursday, preventing INEC from accepting or acting on any recall petition signed by voters from the Kogi Central Senatorial District. However, with the latest ruling, INEC is now legally cleared to consider and act upon the petition.
