Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for mediating a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, a border dispute that had led to the deaths of at least 43 people.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Hun Manet praised President Trump’s “visionary and innovative diplomacy” for successfully bringing an end to the conflict.

Trump’s intervention, which involved phone calls to both leaders, came at a time when both Cambodia and Thailand were facing high U.S. tariffs on their exports.
Following the ceasefire, both countries were able to secure reduced tariffs of 19%, successfully avoiding a potential rate of 36%.
This is not the first time President Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, as he has also previously received nominations from Pakistan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The nomination process is open to thousands of people, including lawmakers and former laureates, and the Nobel Committee keeps its full list of nominees private.
