- South Africa hosted Nigeria at free state stadium
- Both teams earned a point each
- Eagles unhappy with the poor pitch
The super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa both earned a point each in a crucial game at Free State Stadium in South Africa on Tuesday night.

Ekohotblog reports that Nigeria equalized a 1-0 lead after the super eagles captain, Troost Ekong conceded an unfortunate own goal in the 25th minute of the game.
The super eagles needed a win to put their hope of qualification in sight, but a draw has made their qualification difficult, as they are now 6 points behind the South Africans with 2 games to go.

However, the Nigerian head coach, Eric Chelle has put the blame on inadequate physical arrangement and the pitch, describing it as not fit to host such important game.
“We had no time to prepare for this game, because we travelled and we arrived late,” he explained.

“So we had just one training session. So now we need to prepare on the pitch. We did prepare for this game mentally. And for sure, because of this pitch, we need to be ready mentally.
“I’m very disappointed about this pitch, because the two teams deserve a great pitch, because, you know, like I said, South Africa, play well, very well. They have a great team,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana are clear favourite, Nigeria can only hope they lose the remaining games to stand a chance of qualifying.
