A man, Abiola Awonugba, has been arrested and arraigned for allegedly raping a housewife after assaulting her husband in their matrimonial home in Ondo State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the suspect, who resides in the Ijoka area of Akure, was charged before a Magistrate Court on two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and causing physical injury, in violation of the state’s Criminal Code.

He was apprehended by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, after allegedly attacking the couple in their home, beating the husband and then raping his wife.

During proceedings, prosecuting counsel O.F. Akeredolu informed the court that the incident occurred on August 23, at about 3:30 pm, at Ijo-Mimo, Ijoka Road, Akure South Local Government Area. He stated that the defendant raped the married woman and inflicted injuries on her husband, identified as Mr. Fasore.
The prosecutor requested that the court refer the case to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice, noting that the offences contravened Sections 357, 358, and 335 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.
He further asked that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility pending the DPP’s advice.
However, defence counsel Kehinde Osadugba sought an adjournment to file a counter affidavit against the remand application.
Presiding Magistrate Tina Ayodele-James ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody and adjourned the case until September 16 for ruling on the remand application.
