A prominent district head within the Zazzau Emirate Council of Kaduna State, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, has passed away after collapsing during an event on Thursday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Sarkin Yakin Zazzau reportedly fainted while attending a program alongside the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, at Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar Gayan, Zaria. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.
The Emirate’s Media and Publicity Officer, Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.
“It is with great sadness that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, a Council Member of the Emirate,” the statement read.
The late district head, who also served as the Councillor in charge of health-related matters, was laid to rest at Rimin Dodo Cemetery on Thursday evening.
Reacting to the loss, the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, described it as “the will of Allah,” emphasizing that “death is inevitable and can occur at any time as determined by Allah.”
He extended his condolences to the bereaved family, describing the late Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate as a dedicated and religious leader whose contributions to the emirate would be deeply missed.

The Emir prayed for the departed soul, asking Allah to grant him eternal rest.
