The Local Government Inspector (LGI) of the National Youth Service Corps in Abeokuta South, Abass Olalekan, has been arraigned before a magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, over his alleged involvement in a case linked to the death of a corps member, Victoria Ariyo.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Olalekan, 43, was brought before Magistrate A. K. Araba on Monday on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and attempt to procure abortion. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the charge sheet, the defendant and others still at large allegedly conspired between January and March 2026 in the Ikereku area of Laderin, Abeokuta, to carry out an abortion, an offence punishable under the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State.
The prosecution further alleged that Olalekan attempted to procure the abortion by supplying drugs to the deceased, an act also punishable under the law.
The case stems from the death of Ariyo, who was serving under the Abeokuta South Local Government Area. She was reported to have died from complications related to pregnancy.
Sources have alleged that the defendant was in a romantic relationship with the deceased, which led to the pregnancy and the events that followed, although this remains part of the ongoing legal process.

Defence counsel, Elizabeth Adelabu, applied for bail, arguing that the offences are bailable. In her ruling, Magistrate Araba granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The court stipulated that one of the sureties must be a blood relative, while the other must be gainfully employed. Both are required to provide a utility bill, swear to an affidavit of means, submit six passport photographs, and present evidence of 2026 tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
Pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions, the court ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Ibara Correctional Centre.
The case has been adjourned until April 14 for further hearing.
