Court Threatens To Jail DSS DG For Blocking Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyers
The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a strong warning to the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, threatening imprisonment for obstructing the legal team of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from accessing him.
In a Notice of Consequences delivered on Friday, the court accused the DSS of defying its previous ruling, which mandated regular access for Kanu’s lawyers.
The court’s Registrar served the notice, which was later made public by Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ejimakor, in a statement, expressed his intent to initiate contempt proceedings against the DSS Director General, highlighting the gravity of the court’s order and the consequences of its violation.
The statement read: “Earlier today, the Registrar of the Federal High Court, Abuja issued a Form 48, a Notice of Consequences for disobeying a court order, against the Director General of DSS concerning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The notice clearly warns: ‘TAKE NOTICE that unless you comply with the court’s directive—by allowing the Applicant’s Counsel to conduct court-ordered visitations on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—you will be guilty of Contempt of Court and liable for imprisonment.’
“This action became necessary due to the repeated violation of the court’s order by the DSS Director General, who has, for almost a month, refused to allow Kanu’s lawyers access to him.
“If the Director General persists in this misconduct, we will have no option but to vigorously pursue contempt proceedings against him.”
Ejimakor emphasized that the court’s notice serves as a quasi-criminal warning, clearly outlining the penal consequences for anyone defying the court’s authority.
