A 27-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Iheamama, has been sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment for trafficking two minors for exploitation.

According to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Iheamama was tried before the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on a three-count charge bordering on child trafficking.
He was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment and a ₦250,000 fine on count one, five years’ imprisonment and a ₦500,000 fine on count two, and another five years on count three, with all sentences to run concurrently, amounting to a 12-year jail term.
The Ogun State Commander of NAPTIP, Bose Jimoh, said in a statement that the convict was arrested on April 12, 2025, by officers of the Nigeria Police Force in the Agbara area while transporting the victims towards Badagry for onward movement to Ghana for prostitution.

She added that the case was later transferred to NAPTIP for further investigation and prosecution.
The defendant was arraigned on June 18, 2025, before Justice A. A. Okeke, while trial commenced on October 15, 2025, before judgment was delivered on May 20, 2026.
According to the statement, the court found him guilty on all counts under Sections 13, 15(b), and 26(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
