The Federal Government has admonished Nigerians not to lower their guards in defence of the virulent COVID-19 infection.

The government said the best way to check the spread of the virus is to adhere to health advisories and COVID-19 protocols.

Speaking on Thursday at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing in Abuja, Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora,  said the citizenry should not get carried by the news of vaccine to the point that they become complacent in fight against the virus.

Ekohotblog reports that Mamora, who assured that the government was working very hard to get vaccines, asked Nigerians to lower their expectations regarding vaccine as they might not be getting it soon.

He was represented by the Director, Hospital Services, Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Adebimpe Adebiyi.

“We need to be alive to get the vaccines when they come. I have brought this up to underscore the importance of compliance with non-pharmaceutical measures as advised to reduce transmission.

“The Federal Government is determined to ensure morbidity due to COVID-19 is reduced to the barest minimum while improving on the fatality rate,” he said.
