- Marc Cucurella says he will retire from Spain duty if they win the World Cup
- The defender also promises to tattoo coach Luis de la Fuente’s face
- Spain will face Argentina in Sunday’s World Cup final
Spain defender Marc Cucurella has revealed he would step away from international football and honour coach Luis de la Fuente with a tattoo if Spain defeat Argentina in Sunday’s World Cup final.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the newly signed Real Madrid player said winning both the European Championship and the World Cup would represent the highest achievement of his career, leaving him with little else to accomplish at national level.

“If we win the World Cup, I’ll call Luis the next day and tell him not to count on me anymore. I’ll retire from the national team,” Cucurella said.
“With a European Championship and a World Cup, I can’t do better than that. I would get a tattoo of Luis de la Fuente’s face on my bicep if we become world champions,” he added.

The defender’s latest pledge follows a similar promise he made ahead of Euro 2024, when he vowed to dye his hair red if Spain won the tournament. After Spain lifted the trophy, Cucurella fulfilled the commitment.
However, the Spain star has previously ruled out one particular tattoo, saying he would rather go bald than have a Barcelona badge inked on his body.
Spain enter the World Cup final with strong momentum after defeating Portugal and France before securing a dramatic victory over Belgium to reach the title decider.
The final against Argentina presents Cucurella and his teammates with a chance to make history and complete a remarkable international double.
