The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated two Nigerian women in the diaspora for their outstanding achievements in academia and global business.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the women, Prof. Oghenetega Ighedo and Ugwechi Amadi, were praised for their accomplishments, which Dabiri-Erewa described as a source of pride for Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa said the achievements of the two women reflected the talent, resilience and excellence of Nigerians making an impact around the world.
According to the commission, Ighedo recently became the first Black woman to earn a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of South Africa. She currently serves as an Associate Professor of Mathematical Sciences at the institution and has distinguished herself through her teaching and research.
Dabiri-Erewa said Ighedo’s achievement would inspire more women and young people to pursue careers in mathematics and other STEM fields.
The NiDCOM boss also congratulated Ugwechi Amadi on her appointment as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of McDonald’s.
Amadi is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a Rhodes Scholar and holds a PhD from the University of Oxford. She has also held senior leadership positions at LIV Golf, Nike and Boston Consulting Group.
Dabiri-Erewa said the accomplishments of both women highlight the importance of creating opportunities for young Nigerians, particularly women and girls, to excel in leadership, science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
She commended the duo for breaking barriers in their respective fields and serving as role models for the younger generation.
The NiDCOM chairman reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to celebrating Nigerians in the diaspora, noting that their achievements continue to strengthen Nigeria’s global image and foster stronger ties between the diaspora and the homeland.
