The Lagos State University (LASU) is set to host its 29th and 30th Convocation Lecture on Tuesday, August 18, with the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, as the guest lecturer.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Dabiri-Erewa, who is an honorary Doctor of Arts degree holder of the university, will speak on the theme, “From LASU to the World: Harnessing the Nigerian Diaspora as the 7th Region for National Development.”

The lecture is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
The session will be chaired by Hon. Tasir Wale Raji, member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The lecture is expected to examine the growing role of Nigerians living abroad in national development, particularly through their expertise, investments, professional networks and international connections.
The event forms part of activities lined up for LASU’s 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremonies and is expected to attract members of the university community, students, graduands, alumni, distinguished guests and other members of the public.
The lecture will also provide an opportunity for participants to explore how Nigeria can better engage its diaspora as a strategic resource for economic growth, innovation, knowledge transfer and national development.
