Britain’s Daniel Dubois is in negotiations for a showdown with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Dubois, the IBF heavyweight champion, recently withdrew from his scheduled title defence against Joseph Parker on February 22 due to illness and has opted not to reschedule that bout. Instead, his focus has shifted toward facing Usyk, who holds the remaining major world titles in the division.

Team Dubois is hopeful the fight can be staged in the UK, with Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, confirming that Wembley Stadium is “one of the options” under consideration.

Dubois previously faced Usyk in 2023, suffering a stoppage defeat in Poland. Since then, he has rebounded with three consecutive knockout victories, including wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic before claiming his maiden world title against Anthony Joshua.

Usyk, undefeated in 23 fights, has a decorated résumé that includes two victories each over Tyson Fury and Joshua, as well as wins against Dubois and Derek Chisora.

The Ukrainian previously reigned as the undisputed cruiserweight champion before achieving the same feat at heavyweight. However, after his first win over Fury last year, he vacated the IBF belt, leading to Dubois’ elevation from interim to full champion ahead of his bout with Joshua.

The last British heavyweight to hold undisputed status was Lennox Lewis in 1999. In the four-belt era, only three Britons—Savannah Marshall, Josh Taylor, and Chantelle Cameron—have achieved undisputed status in any weight class.
