David Moyes in Talks for Everton Return After Sean Dyche’s Sacking

David Moyes is in discussions with Everton regarding a possible return to Goodison Park following the dismissal of Sean Dyche as manager.

While a deal is not yet finalized and Moyes is not the only candidate, BBC Sport has learned from a reliable source that the former manager is currently the frontrunner.

Negotiations are reportedly ongoing, but time is running short for an announcement to be made by Friday evening.

The length of Moyes’ potential contract remains unclear.

Dyche was fired on Thursday after a disappointing run left Everton in 16th place in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone. The team has only secured three wins in 19 league matches this season.

Moyes previously managed Everton from 2002 to 2013 before a brief tenure at Manchester United, where he was dismissed after 10 months. He later had two spells at West Ham, leading them to win the Europa Conference League title in 2023, before leaving the club at the end of the previous season.

Moyes recently stated that he wasn’t ready to retire from management but emphasized that he didn’t want to be in a role “fighting relegation.” Having been honoured with an OBE for services to football, he remarked, “Football is in my blood. It has been since I was a boy.”
