The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that the late Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Khan Salihu, was kidnapped before his death, describing the publication as false, misleading and completely unfounded.

According to the Command, DCP Salihu complained of feeling unwell and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention. He was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The police expressed concern over the circulation of what it described as an unverified report, noting that the misinformation had caused unnecessary distress to the deceased officer’s family, colleagues and members of the public.

The Command stressed that Salihu’s death was purely medical and had no connection whatsoever with any criminal activity or abduction.

It also condemned the spread of inaccurate information, urging journalists and media organisations to verify sensitive reports before publication.

“The Command is concerned about the circulation of false and irresponsible reports regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of DCP Khan Salihu. Such misinformation is capable of causing needless pain to the family and creating unnecessary panic among the public,” the statement noted.

The police further advised residents to disregard the report and rely only on information released through official channels.

The Command reiterated its commitment to transparency and timely dissemination of accurate information on matters relating to security and public interest.
