Deadly Communal Clash Rocks Jigawa, Leaving Scores Dead, Homes Razed
- Scores dead, homes destroyed in Gidan Nagari.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the attack comes just a week after a similar incident in Gululu village, also within Jahun.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with gunfire, screams, and homes set ablaze as residents fled for their lives.
“We were awakened by gunfire and screams. People were running, and houses were burning,” one anonymous witness recounted.

Jahun General Hospital confirmed 10 deaths, including nine men and one woman, with some victims burned beyond recognition.
Local residents are calling for calm and urgent government action to address the ongoing violence.
“This incident has raised serious concerns about the escalating conflict between the two communities,” said Malam Muhammad Kani, a local resident.
Bala Dan Garba, another resident, emphasised the need for unity: “We must work together to prevent further violence and restore peace to our communities.”
Victims’ burials took place as mourners gathered to pay their respects.

Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident, with Superintendent Shi’isu Lawan stating, “Our officers are on the ground, and investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the damage and casualties.”
Despite the severity of the violence, the Jigawa State government has yet to issue an official response. Calls to the governor’s spokesperson have gone unanswered, and no measures have been announced to address the violence or support victims.
