ADC accuses APC of repeating PDP’s past political mistakes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, that “key ADC figures” would join the ruling party next week, insisting that defections will not rescue the APC from defeat in 2027.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the APC’s desperation to attract members from other political parties reflects its growing fear of rejection by Nigerians.
According to Abdullahi, the ruling party has become “hugely unpopular” due to the widespread hardship and economic suffering it has imposed on citizens.
He stated that “even if all the governors in Nigeria defected to the APC, the party cannot be saved from the wrath of Nigerians whose lives it has made miserable.”
The ADC accused the APC of playing the same “ruinous political games” once employed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before losing power in 2015.
“The truth remains that the APC realises that it has become the most hated party in Nigeria, and no amount of defections can save it from Nigerians whose lives and livelihoods the ruling party has destroyed since it came to power,” the statement read.
The opposition party further described the ongoing wave of defections as “a gang-up against the people by a ruling elite interested only in self-preservation while citizens wallow in poverty.”
It also challenged the APC chairman to disclose the identities of the alleged ADC members planning to defect, saying, “If these individuals are so ‘key,’ let the chairman of the hated party mention their names.”
The ADC maintained that real democratic power rests with the people, not political elites, and that the APC would soon learn that lesson the hard way.
