EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, said military personnel have been placed on full alert to prevent security breaches during the festive period.
Onoja explained that similar measures are usually taken during major celebrations, including Christmas and Eid-el-Fitr, and that the same level of vigilance would be maintained throughout Easter.
“Security forces are aware that criminal groups often exploit festive periods. Troops have been instructed to remain vigilant at all times,” he added.
The Defence Headquarters also highlighted its ongoing partnership with the United States, aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s fight against terrorism. The cooperation includes intelligence sharing and training for Nigerian troops to improve operations on the ground.
Onoja noted that the results of such collaborations may not be immediately visible due to the nature of military operations but said the impact would become clearer in the coming weeks and months.

He also explained that some details of the partnership remain classified for security reasons but confirmed that the intelligence received includes information on the location of threats and hostile groups. Nigerian forces are actively using this data to guide operations and respond effectively.
