Dr. Opeifa succeeds Ben Iloanusi, who served as Acting Managing Director following the exit of Fidet Okhiria.
His appointment has been described as a well-deserved recognition of his decades-long contributions to Nigeria’s transportation sector.
A proud son of Awori in Lagos, Dr. Opeifa is a highly respected transportation expert with a rich history of public service and a reputation for implementing transformative policies.
He previously served as the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, where he played a key role in modernizing the city’s transportation system.
His efforts during his tenure significantly improved traffic management, reduced congestion, and made Lagos a model for urban transport systems across Africa.
EkoHotBlog recalls that Dr. Opeifa’s visionary leadership brought numerous innovations, including traffic flow solutions and infrastructure upgrades, which positioned Lagos as a leader in transportation planning on the continent.
Beyond Lagos, Dr. Opeifa also served as the Transport Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
His tenure in Abuja was marked by remarkable efficiency, as he streamlined the capital city’s transportation system and addressed challenges in a professional and competent manner.
One of the most notable chapters of his career was his leadership role in addressing the infamous Apapa gridlock crisis.
