- Oshiomhole argued that Nigeria must respond decisively to what he described as repeated hostility towards its citizens
Adams Oshiomhole has called on the Federal Government to take a tougher stance over the recurring attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
Speaking during plenary on Tuesday, Eko Hot Blog reports that the senator urged authorities to consider strong countermeasures, including actions targeting South African businesses operating in Nigeria.
His comments come amid renewed reports of violence against Nigerians abroad.
The former Edo State governor suggested that companies such as MTN and MultiChoice could face sanctions, including the possible withdrawal of their operating licences.
Oshiomhole argued that Nigeria must respond decisively to what he described as repeated hostility towards its citizens, framing the situation as both a diplomatic and economic issue.

He maintained that while South African authorities have the right to prosecute crimes under their laws, attacks resulting in the deaths of Nigerians should not be tolerated.
The lawmaker also dismissed claims that Nigerians are responsible for job losses in South Africa, suggesting instead that citizens could return home and take advantage of opportunities provided by South African firms doing business in Nigeria.
He stressed that a firm response from Nigeria would compel South African authorities to take the matter more seriously and ensure better protection for foreign nationals.
