The Naira maintained a slight gap across official and parallel markets on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, as currency pressures continue to shape Nigeria’s foreign exchange landscape.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that at the black market, also known as the parallel market, the Naira traded at ₦1,410 per dollar for selling and ₦1,393 per dollar for buying. This reflects ongoing demand for foreign currency outside official channels, driven by limited supply and high import needs.

Meanwhile, data from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed a relatively lower exchange range at the official window, with the highest rate recorded at ₦1,362 and the lowest at ₦1,354 per dollar.

The persistent gap between the official and black market rates highlights ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s foreign exchange system. Analysts say limited dollar liquidity, rising import bills, and external economic pressures continue to influence the Naira’s performance.

Despite efforts by the Central Bank to stabilise the currency through policy adjustments and market interventions, demand for dollars remains strong, particularly among businesses and individuals seeking quick access to foreign exchange.
