Dr Tunji Alausa, Gov Sanwo-Olu Sign MoU for Transfer of Epe General Hospital to Federal Medical Centre

The Lagos State Government and the Federal Government have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to transfer Epe General Hospital, which will now serve as the newly established Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Epe.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the agreement was signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during the Lagos Trauma Conference 2024 held in Oniru, Victoria Island on Thursday.

 

Renamed the Federal Medical Centre, Epe, the facility aims to enhance specialized medical services and contribute to broader healthcare delivery initiatives across the state.

In his speech, Dr Alausa, who signed on behalf of the Nigerian government, stated that this transition is crucial in making Lagos a model for universal health coverage and improving trauma care and emergency services.

On his part, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who signed on behalf of the Lagos State Government, remarked on the importance of the transfer, describing it as a new chapter in health service delivery for Lagos.

He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to strengthening strategies and partnerships within the healthcare sector.

“This collaboration will enhance our capacity to manage trauma care effectively and improve emergency responses,” he stated.

In a related statement, Hon. Wale Raji, Representative of Epe Federal Constituency, welcomed the initiative, affirming that the collaboration will significantly enhance healthcare delivery in Epe and its surrounding communities, marking a major step toward improved medical services in the region.
