EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has sacked the officers responsible for Hajj affairs in the 44 local government areas in the state and replaced them with interim officers to coordinate the ongoing operations of intending pilgrims for 2023 Hajj across the state.

The governor’s decision was made known in a statement on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa.

The governor directed the interim local Hajj officers to take over all responsibilities from the former officers.

“The newly appointed officers are expected to report to the new Director General of the board today (Sunday) for further directive at the board’s headquarters,” the statement said.

Recall that the governor recently removed executive secretary of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Amb. Mohammad Danbatta, and replaced him with Alhaji Laminu Rabiu.

The sacking of the 44 Hajj centre officers came only few hours to the commencement of airlift of the state pilgrims.

No fewer than 700 intending pilgrims from the state missed the 2022 Hajj following disagreement over the choice of an airline to airlift pilgrims from the state.

Meanwhile, in keeping with the governor’s vow to remove illegal structures and preserve’s Kano’s master plan, state agents on early Sunday morning demolished structures at Daula Hotel and Hajj Camp.

The demolition of the hotel came only a few hours after the state, on Saturday, demolished a three-storey building, comprising 90 shops on Race Course Road, in the Nasarawa GRA, Kano, marking the beginning of demolition of structures, which the government described as illegal and believed to have been erected on government land.
