EKO HOT BLOG reports that a DSS source, speaking to The Nation, revealed that lawmakers had mobilized supporters to the Assembly Complex, leading to assaults on security personnel stationed there. The officers had reportedly been invited by the Assembly leadership to secure the premises.
“After an extensive review of CCTV footage, we were able to clearly identify three suspects,” the source said.
The arrested individuals were identified as Ibrahim Olanrewaju Abdulkareem, a photographer; Adetu Adekunle Samsudeen, an officer attached to the Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms; and Adetola Oluwatosin Fatimoh, also part of the Assembly’s security team.
“The trio has since confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court,” the source added.
Reports indicate that concerns over security threats preceded the February 17 incident. A leaked memo dated February 14, 2025, and addressed to the DSS Director and heads of other security agencies in Lagos State, warned of a possible security breach.
The memo alleged that ousted Speaker Mudashiru Obasa planned to forcibly reinstate himself on February 18, 2025. In response, Assembly officials labeled the situation a “potential security threat”, leading to the DSS being called in for reinforcement.
