The Edo State Government, under the direction of Governor Monday Okpebholo, has demolished a house in the Egbaen community of Egor Local Government Area that was allegedly used for cult initiation rites and ritual practices.
The demolition was a joint effort by the Edo State Special Security Squad, known as “Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers,” and other security agencies, Eko Hot Blog reports.

During the operation, authorities discovered a shrine, a coffin, and other fetish items inside the building. According to Idemudia Noah, the Coordinator of the Security Squad, the property belonged to a cult leader named Marvelous Adetarami.

The building was targeted after the cult leader and his members continued to gather there, despite the premises being sealed by authorities on a previous occasion.
The local community has welcomed the government’s decisive action, as residents had been living in fear due to the suspects’ criminal activities.
The government is encouraging citizens to report similar illegal activities to security agencies to ensure a safer and more secure environment for everyone in the state.
