- Egoh defends President Tinubu’s infrastructure focus, says projects benefit all Nigerians.
- He emphasizes that the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway cuts across nine states and drives national development.
- Calls on Nigerians to unite behind development initiatives rather than politicize national projects.
Former lawmaker, Rep. Oghene Egoh, has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu is concentrating Federal Government infrastructural projects in Lagos State, describing such allegations as unfounded and misleading.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Egoh, who spoke during an interview with newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday, said the projects initiated under the Tinubu administration are designed to promote balanced national development and deliver economic benefits to all regions of Nigeria.
He particularly refuted criticisms from some Northern groups who alleged that the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway was a Lagos-focused initiative.
According to him, the 700km coastal road cuts across nine oil-producing states and is strategically designed to boost inter-state trade, enhance regional connectivity, and stimulate economic growth across the federation.
“The Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway will improve trading relations between states, strengthen logistics, and increase internally generated revenue through socio-economic activities.

It is not a Lagos project; it is a national development initiative,” he explained.
Egoh also backed President Tinubu’s decision to invest in Lagos infrastructure such as the ongoing upgrade of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, noting that it serves the entire nation.
“The airport serves all Nigerians, from Kano to Enugu to Sokoto. It is not about Lagos; it is about modernizing Nigeria’s primary gateway to the world,” he said, describing the project as a long-overdue step toward improving Nigeria’s global image.
He further supported the Federal Government’s investment in upgrading port infrastructure in Lagos, pointing out that over 90 percent of Nigeria’s imports and exports pass through the Lagos ports, which support business activities nationwide.
“The ports may be located in Lagos, but their impact is felt in every corner of the country. The economy of Sokoto, Borno, and Enugu depends on the efficiency of Lagos ports,” Egoh added.
He urged critics to refrain from politicizing President Tinubu’s infrastructural drive, stressing that the projects are national assets meant to benefit all Nigerians regardless of region or ethnicity.
Describing such criticisms as divisive and unpatriotic, Egoh called for collective support for initiatives that promote unity and development.
The former lawmaker also commended President Tinubu for his bold infrastructural vision and urged other regions to emulate Lagos’s efficiency in managing national facilities for the benefit of the entire country.
