The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.\

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, announced the result at about 3:13 a.m. on Sunday after the collation of results from the state’s 16 local government areas.
Oladiji, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, said Oyebanji secured a total of 319,224 votes to emerge victorious in the poll.
According to the final results announced by the commission, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwole Oluyede, came second with 40,543 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 12,872 votes.
The Returning Officer disclosed that 384,940 voters were accredited for the election, while a total of 375,777 valid votes were recorded. She added that 6,332 votes were rejected during the exercise.
With the outcome, Oyebanji secured victory by a wide margin, winning in all 16 local government areas of the state.

Following the declaration, INEC formally returned Oyebanji as the duly elected governor of Ekiti State, paving the way for another term in office.
