EKO HOT BLOG reports that the association had earlier embarked on a seven-day warning strike last week to press home their demands, following months of unresolved negotiations with the FCTA. The issues in contention reportedly include improved welfare packages, provision of essential working tools, and the implementation of agreements previously reached with the government.
Despite several meetings, the doctors insist that the authorities have failed to show tangible commitment to addressing their concerns, forcing them to escalate their action to an indefinite strike.
The decision is expected to affect health services across FCT-owned hospitals, raising fears of disruption to patient care, especially in emergency cases. Members of the public have been advised to seek medical attention at alternative facilities until the matter is resolved.
The association maintained that it remains open to dialogue but stressed that the strike will continue until the government makes concrete moves to meet their demands.
