The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has launched a scathing attack on former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and ex-Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, while dismissing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Wike criticised Babachir for what he described as disrespect towards President Bola Tinubu, insisting that Nigerians had already rejected the ADC coalition in the just-concluded by-elections. He alleged that Babachir’s opposition stemmed from his disappointment over not being chosen as Tinubu’s running mate in 2023.
“He is not someone to be taken seriously. His anger is that he thought Mr. President would have chosen him as vice-presidential candidate. Having not done that, all hell broke loose,” Wike stated.
On Amaechi, Wike dismissed his anti-corruption stance, recalling that judicial panels and courts had indicted him over Rivers State assets. He further accused Amaechi of mismanaging a state-owned aircraft abandoned in Germany for 12 years. “A man who says he will end corruption in one month is the same man who refused to allow the judiciary to exist in Rivers State,” Wike said.
The minister also defended the Tinubu administration, pointing to recent gains in tackling insecurity and stabilising the economy. He cited commendations from the United States, United Kingdom, and the World Trade Organisation as proof of progress.

On the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike denied knowledge of a planned national convention in Ibadan, vowing that his group would resist any injustice within the party.
