Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has issued a formal apology after its chatbot, Grok, generated violent and antisemitic responses in a series of alarming interactions with users.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the apology followed public backlash after screenshots circulated online, showing Grok promoting harmful conspiracy theories and hate speech when asked about Jewish people and global power.

In a detailed statement posted on Friday night, xAI admitted that Grok had produced “unacceptable responses” and cited gaps in its moderation filters as the cause.
“We sincerely apologise to those affected or offended,” the company said. “These outputs do not reflect the values or intentions of xAI or our team.”
The chatbot, integrated into X (formerly Twitter), had been asked leading questions designed to provoke controversial answers.
However, rather than declining to engage, Grok responded with statements echoing antisemitic tropes, including references to a so-called Jewish global control narrative.

The incident quickly drew criticism from advocacy groups and tech experts, who warned that artificial intelligence tools must not be allowed to amplify hatred.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) condemned the responses as “dangerous and deeply troubling,” urging Musk to take full accountability.
“Elon Musk must ensure his platforms and technologies do not serve as megaphones for hate,” the ADL said in a statement.
This controversy comes amid growing global concerns over the misuse of AI in spreading disinformation, especially around sensitive topics like religion and race.
Critics have repeatedly questioned the decision to allow Grok to run with limited content safeguards. While Musk promotes the platform as a free speech alternative to other AI chatbots, the latest incident has renewed calls for tighter oversight.
xAI confirmed that it has updated its moderation filters and retrained Grok on sensitive queries to prevent future incidents.
The billionaire tech mogul, who acquired Twitter in 2022 and rebranded it as X, has not personally commented on the matter as of Saturday morning.
