EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during a ceremony to distribute appointment letters to over 4,315 former BESDA teachers, the governor announced that his government has since reversed the situation.
He said that through prudent financial management, billions of naira are now available in government accounts.
According to a statement released today by his spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, Governor Yusuf accused his predecessor of reckless financial practices, including hiring more than 128 tax consultants who he said failed to deliver any tangible results.
The governor challenged his predecessors to show the tangible work they did in the state, stating they had “exhausted the treasury to the extent that Kano was left indebted to banks.”
Governor Yusuf said his administration has sacrificed its own comfort to ensure that public funds are used for the welfare of the people. He cited the state’s improved performance in the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) and WASSCE exams as evidence of the positive impact of his government’s investment in education.

He also pledged that his government would continue to channel resources into education, healthcare, and infrastructure while maintaining transparency and accountability.
