Epe Celebrates Culture, Unity, and Leadership at the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival
- Ojude Oba Epe 2025 held at Ogunmodede College in honour of Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun
- Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, and other dignitaries graced the occasion with powerful speeches

Epe witnessed a grand convergence of tradition, festivity, and homage as sons and daughters of the ancient town, both home and abroad joined non-indigenes in celebrating this year’s Eid-el-Kabir and the highly anticipated Ojude Oba Festival with the Paramount Ruler of Epe Land, His Royal Majesty Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun.
Ekohotblog reports that the memorable event, held at the premises of Ogunmodede College, Epe, brought together royal fathers, high chiefs, government officials, cultural groups, and community leaders who came to honour the revered monarch for his exceptional leadership and commitment to the development of Epe Land.

Among the dignitaries present were Hon. (High Chief) Abiodun Mustain Tobun, Balogun of Epe Land and Member of Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency I;
HRM Oba Nureni Sikiru Odedina (Alugbin I), Oniladaba of Ladaba Kingdom; High Chief (Engr.) Adeniyi Ogunsanya, Bashorun of Epe Land and CEO of Royal Waterfront Hotel & Suites; Chief (Mrs.) Adenike Tobun, Yeye Mesho of Epe Land; Chief (Mrs.) Hassan Ayoka, the Iyalode of Epe Land;
Prince Raheem Adewale Oluwasegun; and the leader of the Arewa community in Epe Division, Alhaji Abdullahi, popularly known as Governor.
Speeches were delivered by prominent figures including the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Amb.) Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun FHTI;
Balogun of Epe Land, Hon. Abiodun Tobun; and the Chairman of the Day, High Chief Amure. They all extolled Oba Animashaun’s leadership qualities, resilience, and fatherly wisdom.
“Ojude Oba is more than a celebration. It is a reflection of our identity and unity as a people,” said Hon. Surah Animashaun. “Kabiyesi has continued to lead us with wisdom and love.”
In his remarks, Hon. Tobun added, “Under Oba Animashaun’s leadership, Epe has remained peaceful and progressive. He is a king for all home and abroad.”
One of the most captivating moments of the festival was the traditional Regberegbe and Family Competitions. Various age groups and family contingents displayed stunning cultural attires, coordination, and heritage-rich performances, all in homage to the king.
Winners of the competitions were awarded cash prizes:
- First Prize: ₦250,000
- Second Prize: ₦150,000
- Third Prize: ₦100,000
The monarch himself was not only a gracious host but also led special prayers for the continued peace, unity, and prosperity of Epe Land.
“May our land continue to witness progress, peace, and unity,” Oba Animashaun declared. “Epe is our heritage, and we must uphold her dignity with pride and love.”

Bashorun Adeniyi Ogunsanya remarked, “I congratulate the good people of Epe on the occasion of this year’s Ojude Oba Festival. The festival fosters peace and unity in our land. It brings together the high and low, indigenes and non-indigenes, because in Epe, we are one people.”
The cultural display was complemented by musical entertainment, with Fuji maestro King Shefiu Alao Malaika thrilling the audience at the Ogunmodede College grounds. Later, at a lavish palace reception, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 the Ultimate) also performed in honour of the monarch and guests.
