Police Launch Investigation into Man's Death from Knife Attack

The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the death of 45-year-old Ahmed Aliyu, a victim of an alleged attack by unknown persons in the Hammadu Kafi area of Akko Local Government Area.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, according to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, on Monday in Gombe.

The police statement indicated that a relative of the deceased, identified as Bashir Umar, reported the attack around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, stating that it had taken place earlier at approximately 8:00 a.m.

ā€œFrom the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the victim was attacked with knives and had fatal injuries on the left side of his chest and back,ā€ Abdullahi stated. ā€œHe was rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where a doctor later confirmed him dead.ā€

The Police Command condemned the perpetrators’ actions as “senseless and unwarranted.” In a statement issued by ASP Buhari Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, authorities revealed that an intelligence-led investigation has been launched to track down and apprehend the suspects responsible for the heinous crime.

While urging residents to remain calm, the police command also called on the public to assist in the investigation by providing any information that could lead to the resolution of the case.
