Eko Hot Blog reports that the colourful ceremony, held in Epe, attracted traditional rulers, eminent personalities, professionals, community leaders, members of sister organizations, and distinguished guests from across Epe Division and beyond.
Welcoming guests to the occasion, the President of Epe Club, Chief Olayemi Dada, FCA, described the event as a celebration of leadership, service, friendship, and the enduring values upon which the club was founded.
He paid glowing tribute to the living past presidents of the club, including Engr. Adetayo Ajilogba (1974–1976), Chief Dapo Sarumi (1985–1987), Prince Ademola Badejo (2005–2007), Alhaji Taoheed Olowo Fowosere (2017–2021), and Engr. (Hon.) Adebola Shabi (2021–2025), for their sacrifices, commitment, and contributions to the growth and development of the organization.
“Today, you are the giants upon whose shoulders we stand. You built without recognition, served without complaint, and mentored others. You turned ideas into projects, meetings into movements, and members into family. Your wisdom continues to guide our decisions,” he said.
The President also paid tribute to the founding fathers of Epe Club, acknowledging their vision, sacrifice, and determination in laying the foundation for what has become one of the most respected socio-cultural organizations in Epe Division.
He announced that henceforth, every President of Epe Club would be decorated with the Grand Commander of Epe Club (GCEC) honour upon the completion of their tenure in recognition of their service and contributions to the club.
A major highlight of the evening was the induction of five new members into the club. The newly inducted members are Mr. Abisoye Ibrahim Oluwo, Engr. Ayodeji Macrame Akeushola, Mr. Temitope Sheriff Kawojue, Mr. Babatunde Lasisi Akeredolu, and Mr. Gbolahan Nurudeen Onifade.
According to the President, the new members were introduced by respected members of the club, thoroughly screened, and found worthy of joining the prestigious organization.
“We are convinced that they will bring energy, talent, fresh ideas, and valuable contributions to our table. You are no longer visitors; you are now members of Epe Club,” he declared.
He charged the inductees to uphold the values of unity, peace, progress, culture, and fellowship while contributing meaningfully to the development of Epe Division and the continued growth of the club.
Speaking on the history of the organization, Chief Dada noted that Epe Club was founded on the principles of unity, culture, progress, and fellowship. From an initial membership of eleven founding fathers, the club has grown to over 200 members spread across the five local governments and LCDAs that make up Epe Division.
He revealed that the club boasts an impressive membership comprising prominent political office holders, business leaders, professionals, academicians, and public servants. He added that the Governor of Lagos State serves as the Grand Patron of the club, while traditional rulers across the division are among its patrons.
The President highlighted several developmental initiatives undertaken by the club over the years, including bursary awards for indigent students, donation of medical equipment to primary healthcare centres, youth empowerment and educational programmes, food intervention projects, community dispute resolution efforts, and various social welfare initiatives.
“Everything we do is rooted in our love for Epe Division and for one another. Our motto remains Unity, Peace and Progress,” he said.
Chief Dada also appealed to members to support the ongoing completion of the club’s building project, revealing that some members had already volunteered to finance the completion of individual apartments within the facility.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment by members to continue promoting the ideals of unity, peace, progress, and community development across Epe Division.
Guests and members described the ceremony as a memorable celebration of leadership, legacy, service, and the enduring spirit of brotherhood that has sustained Epe Club for decades.
