Epe Local Government has taken a bold step toward environmental sustainability and improved public health with the official inauguration of Environmental Marshals, held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Epe Local Government Secretariat.

The newly appointed Environmental Marshals, carefully selected and equipped for the task, are charged with enforcing environmental laws, improving sanitation standards, and promoting responsible waste management practices among residents.
In her address, the Executive Chairman, Surah Olayemi Animashaun, emphasized that environmental cleanliness is not just a civic duty but a collective responsibility that defines the health, dignity, and future of the community.

She described the initiative as a strategic move to strengthen grassroots enforcement and ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations.
“This inauguration is a deliberate step to reinforce environmental discipline and ensure that our communities remain clean and habitable for all,” she added.
The Chairman further noted that the initiative aligns with the broader vision of transforming Epe into a model of environmental excellence within Lagos State, emphasizing orderliness, hygiene, and sustainability as key pillars of development.
She charged the marshals to carry out their duties with integrity and professionalism.
“You are ambassadors of a cleaner Epe. Discharge your duties with dedication, fairness, and a strong sense of service to the people,” she urged.
The Environmental Marshals are expected to collaborate with community leaders, stakeholders, and residents to ensure compliance with sanitation laws, curb indiscriminate waste disposal, and promote environmental awareness across all wards.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Rahman Saheed; Council Manager, Mrs. Shofolu; APC Epe LGA Chairman, Comrade Toyin Gbadamosi; as well as security agencies including the Divisional Police Officer and the Tactical Squad team. Supervisors, Special Advisers, and staff of the council were also in attendance, showing strong support for the initiative.
The inauguration underscores the administration’s proactive approach to governance and its renewed commitment to safeguarding public health while preserving the natural environment of Epe for future generations.
