The Epe Grammar School Old Students Association (EGOSA) is mourning the passing of Otunba Bola Taiwo Odebiyi, a distinguished member of the Pioneer Set (1954/1959) of the school and a dedicated Board of Trustees member of the association.
Ekohotblog reports that Otunba Odebiyi, an illustrious son of the legendary Odebiyi family, played a pivotal role in the development of Epe Grammar School, a legacy deeply rooted in his family’s history.

His forebears were instrumental in donating the land upon which the school was built, and he upheld their tradition of service by continuously supporting and advancing the institution.
Until his passing, Otunba Odebiyi remained a staunch supporter of education and community development.
He was actively involved in EGOSA’s activities and was a major contributor to the 70th Anniversary Celebration of Epe Grammar School in November 2024.
His commitment to the school was evident through his participation and generous donations.
Speaking on his passing, the National President of EGOSA, Mrs. Olushola Kehinde Alade-Raji, described him as “a true icon whose legacy will never fade.”
“Otunba Odebiyi was more than an alumnus; he was a pillar of support, a mentor, and a benefactor to many. His contributions to the school, to EGOSA, and to Epe as a whole will never be forgotten,” she said.
Another EGOSA member and close associate, highlighted his impact on the community:
“His generosity knew no bounds. He was a man of great wisdom, always willing to lend a helping hand. His role in the development of Epe Grammar School and Epe Division at large cannot be overstated.”
Beyond his commitment to education, Otunba Bola Taiwo Odebiyi was a prominent figure in the social and business landscape of Lagos State.
He was the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Epe Club and held several strategic positions across various sectors.
His influence and dedication to community development earned him respect and admiration.
According to a respected elder in Epe: “Otunba Odebiyi was a symbol of dedication, discipline, and excellence. His passing is a great loss, but his footprints in education, community service, and leadership will continue to inspire us.”
The Epe Grammar School Old Students Association (EGOSA) has extended heartfelt condolences to the Odebiyi family, the Epe Grammar School community, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The association, alongside family members, fqriends, and well-wishers, prays for Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and to comfort his loved ones during this difficult time.
