Epe witnessed a spectacular display of culture and unity as the 2025 Kayokayo Festival featured its vibrant Fanty Carnival Parade. All quarters of the community came out in their unique traditional dresses and creative costumes to celebrate the town’s rich heritage.
Ekohotblog reports that participants from Oke Balogun, Oke Posun/Lagbade, Oke Oba, Popo Oba, Isalẹ Agoro, Bado Isalẹ, and Bado Oke thrilled the crowd with energetic performances and eye-catching attire.

Chiefs, families, and local stakeholders proudly led their quarters during the parade, which drew large applause from onlookers.
Also present were representatives from the Lagos State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism, including the Commissioner, Mr. Idris Aregbe. Ministry officials joined the carnival rally dressed in beautiful traditional attire, adding glamour to the colourful occasion.
Speaking during the carnival, Barrister Bayo Okulu, Kayokayo Carnival Coordinator, said, “Kayokayo is not just a festival; it is a living history of the Epe people.
This carnival parade is a symbol of unity, culture, and beauty. We are working in partnership with Epe Kingdom to ensure Kayokayo becomes a global celebration that puts Epe on the world map.”
A representative from the Ministry of Arts and Tourism also addressed the gathering, saying, “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is focused on revitalizing cultural heritage across the state.
Festivals like Kayokayo are now recognized as key avenues to drive tourism, promote our traditions, and attract global attention to Lagos.”
The Fanty Carnival remains one of the most colourful features of the Kayokayo Festival, uniting the people of Epe while promoting its historical and cultural significance.
