The 2025 edition of the Kayokayo Festival in Epe came to a colourful and spiritual close as the Grand Finale was marked with prayers, reflections, and a strong message of cultural and religious preservation.
Ekohotblog reports that leading the final event was the Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, Sheikh Abdul-Rahmon Abiola Ariru Sadala, who passionately urged Quran lecturers, parents, and students to take Quranic education seriously, describing it as the spiritual identity of the Epe people.

“Quran learning must not fade in our land. Epe is known as the home of the Quran and that legacy must never depart from us.
Everyone has a role to play — from parents to scholars to the young ones. Let’s keep the fire of knowledge and devotion burning,” he said.
The respected cleric also shed light on the deep significance of the Kayokayo Festival, noting that it marks both a spiritual and historical new beginning.
“Kayokayo is more than celebration — it is a moment of renewal. It reminds us of the Islamic New Year and the historic new beginning of King Kosoko in Epe.
This is when he renamed this land ‘Epe,’ symbolizing peace and a fresh start,” he explained.
He further called on the entire Epe community to embrace peace, harmony, and unity, values he said were cherished and upheld by the town’s founding fathers.
“Our forefathers built this town on unity and peace. Let us continue in that path so that our community can flourish spiritually, socially, and economically,” he added.
The event concluded with heartfelt prayers for the progress, peace, and prosperity of Epe Kingdom and its people, sealing the festival with spiritual depth and communal blessings.
